Home Theater

When you have a big house, with many rooms, some of the rooms are not used, and to not keep them empty you can make something useful by indoor pool can become a veritable home theater, and they did a really great job having a spacious home theater with stadium-style seating.

Any room can also functions as an entertainment area as long as it has a decent-size TV and a few speakers. But a home theater is something else altogether. It’s a space designed exclusively for viewing movies in a setting that can embody all the drama and attitude of a real commercial cinema. A home theater is typically set apart from the rest of the house; has no windows; and includes specialty home theater seating, wall treatments and other elements that give it a style all its own. It also usually features some fairly sophisticated electronics to create larger-than-life images and big, booming sound. But a video screen and speakers are just the beginning. Here are the five most important technologies you should incorporate into your home theater.

One of the best ways to plan your home theater is to draw out a floor plan, including the positions of all electrical wall outlets. You will need to consider whether you choose to build your speakers into the walls of your room, or display tall, freestanding floor speakers. Screen placement and seating arrangements are also major issues to consider when planning your home theater.

Begin by determining the best position for your television screen, depending on its size and shape as well as the room dimensions, walls, ceiling and positioning of furnishings therein, since they will influence your quality of sound. You may want to consider sound proofing your home theater room to reduce distractions of noise.

You might also be interested in the different types of home theater furniture, such as cabinets and racks for display and proper placement of your home theater accessories and components. Many of these are quite attractive and budget friendly, while being a components secret hide-out.

When the lights start to dim at a movie theater, that’s your cue that the show is about to start. You can evoke that same sense of anticipation and drama in your own theater by having a lighting system installed. In addition to lowering the lights, a lighting control system can add visual interest to the room by illuminating portions of the ceiling and walls during intermission and after the show. While the movie is rolling, the system could keep a few step lights on so that latecomers can easily find a seat. Anything is possible with a lighting control system, so let your imagination run wild. Turn your ceiling into a galaxy of stars, run rope lights around the perimeter of the ceiling or use pin lights to illuminate snack trays.

You can get really creative with a lighting control system, but unless the system is easy to use, all that creativity will be wasted. Be sure to ask your home systems installer for a remote control that can set the scenes while you’re sitting in your favorite chair. You’ll also want to have a keypad mounted at the entrance of the home theater so that you can cue a scene as you walk into the room.

Fall Ceiling

If you are fed up of boring old white then looking for unusual ceiling ideas can be found a lot easier than you might think. Tin is perhaps not the most obvious ciling choice but it is one that works very well. Textures ceilings have long bee very popular but the dgree of succefullnes has been varying to say the least. Some people as soon as they see a textured ceiling will think that it should be removed or covered up. If you want to have a textured ceiling then it’s worth having a look at all the different types available and what methods are used.

If you are decorating a children’s room then you can afford to go a bit crazy with ideas. Children love amazing and unusual designs and are much more easily bored by drab colors and designs. You can paint just about anything onto a ceiling such as stars and planets. This will really appeal to children who love sci-fi and outer space.

It is rather intuitive, and often overlooked, but your ceiling covers as much space as your floor. Yet despite this fact, most people choose to leave it plain white or at best, white with a popcorn texture. What they may not realize is that there are a variety of interesting techniques that can be used to add beauty, style, and personalization to this remote but important part of every room.

If you have a choice, you should not let your ceilings be sealed in with popcorn or other textured treatments. This limits your freedom by making painting and other decorative treatments practically impossible. Instead, choose a nice, flat, standard colored paint treatment for your ceilings, which will allow you to change the style and colors later on. If your ceiling already has a textural treatment that you want to remove, you should consult your local hardware store for the best methods.

When changing the look of your ceiling it is important to be aware of the style that has developed throughout the rest of the room. In this way you can use your ceiling to support this style, and vice versa, rather than having the two clash.

One way to add interest to a white ceiling is to create geometric focal points of color, over various spots in the home. This can include painting an oval over the dining area or a contrasting square over a seating area in a living room. This figure will most often be painted in the same colors as the walls or flooring, to tie the entire space together.

This idea of unity can be carried even further by painting the walls and the ceiling different shades of the same color. If the ceiling is painted a slightly lighter shade, it will make the features fall away from the room, giving a low ceiling the illusion of being much higher up. The reverse is also true where a towering ceiling painted in a darker tone will seem to fall in on the room, making even overwhelmingly large spaces seem cozy.

Another way to make the ceiling seem higher or lower is with molding. You can paint molding the same color as the ceiling to make the room smaller, and paint it the same color as the walls, to make the room seem larger, and the ceiling further away.

Ceilings are a large and important feature in a space, and should not be ignored just because they are remote, and difficult to reach. By using contrast, unity, and color, it is possible to use the ceiling to add a whole new level to your decorative designs.

Skylight inside the home / Natural Light

Introducing more natural light into your home from one or more skylights will make your rooms feel more spacious, expansive and more beautiful. The increase in natural light can help decrease your overall energy costs. Skylights and roof windows can provide spaces with the warmth and brightness of natural daylight in the Livng room, Drawing room, Bed room Kitchen and even in Bath room. They can enhance almost any interior and are becoming increasingly popular. However, in order to gain the maximum benefit from a skylight, it's important to understand the designs, materials and proper positioning.

The physical size of the skylight greatly affects the illumination level and temperature of the space below. As a rule of thumb, the skylight size should never be more than 5% of the floor area in rooms with many windows and no more than 15% of the room's total floor area for spaces with few windows. In very cold weather, skylights are often prone to water vapor condensing on the glazing. This may cause water to drip into the room. Better skylights usually have an interior channel to collect the condensation so it can evaporate later. To eliminate this, efficient skylights are less prone to condensation problems.

The material used in skylights can impact energy savings, occupant safety, and unit reliability. Consider the choice of glazing carefully. The two types commonly used are plastic and glass. Plastic glazing are usually inexpensive and less liable to break, their surfaces scratch easily and they may become brittle and discolored over time. Glass is usually found on more expensive skylights. It is much harder and durable than plastics and do not discolor. They are often made with a tempered glass on the exterior side and a laminated pane on the interior side.

The location is important, if you want to maximize natural lighting and passive solar heating potential. Skylights on roofs that face north proved fairly constant but cool illumination. Skylights on the east provide maximum light and solar heat gain in the morning. On the west the provide afternoon sunlight and heat gain. You can prevent unwanted solar heat gain by installing the skylight in the shade of deciduous (leaf-shedding) trees, or add a movable shading device. The slope, or tilt, of the skylight also has a great effect on solar heat gain. A low-slope will admit relatively more solar heat in the summer and less in the winter, exactly what is desirable.

Wall Niches improve the wall decoration.

It is very easy to visually enhance and add aesthetic beauty to foyers, hallways, stairway landings, Kitchen, Bathroom or any room in your home with our rich and inviting wall niches. Decorative wall niches not only bring architectural interest to a wall, wall niches also proudly display a home's most personal items.

As an architectural room elements, wall niches are natural focal points that invite guests to ask questions about a particular piece that is displayed inside the niche. Wall niches land a sense of depth to a wall while adding a touch of historical elegance. Recessed wall niches as well as wall mount niches have many uses and decorative functions. All decorative niches, either wall-hung or built-in, are fundamental decorating tools that bring individuality to a design scheme.

Wall niches are a great place to display special artifact, sculpture or flower arrangements while creating classic charm and sophistication. Wall niches provide an opportunity to add texture and depth on an otherwise flat space. Replicated from "old world" designs, the styles of our wall niches range from simple elegant to extraordinary ornate patterns.

We divided our wall niche collection into two parts. In the first category we have included small decorative wall niches that are wall mounted. Any person can easily install these wall niches quickly and easy, because installation does not require cutting a hole in the wall. Small wall niches are great for adding quick decorative touches to your home. The second part of our wall niche collection includes large decorative wall niches that are crafted from hand cast molds in classical traditional designs. Most of these wall niches are recessed niches. Large recessed wall niches have a much greater depth than smaller wall mount niches. For this reason installation of decorative recessed polyurethane wall niches require cutting a hole in the wall to accommodate the recess. All our wall niches are made from extremely durable material - high density furniture grade polyurethane. With our wall niche you can transform ordinary, unembellished walls into elegantly appointed focal points.

If your bathroom is looking a little aged and just isn't working for you anymore, it is definitely time to redesign a space that not only meets your needs, but also looks fantastic at the same time. One of the best ways to do this is with wall niche cabinets such as a bathroom magazine rack, medicine cabinet, and recessed toilet paper holder. They stay out of the way, look sleek, have several options, and are available in so many different styles it's impossible not to fall in love with one of them.

Wall molding is also often used to frame parts of a room such as around doorways, niches, built-in bookshelves and windows. If you have a small room, installing a window treatment can overwhelm it. Instead, hang a simple privacy screen and install wall molding around the window. Bright white molding looks terrific framing a window when the wall is painted a soft neutral color. Built-in bookshelves or wall niches can disappear into a wall, but if you frame them with wall molding, they suddenly become much more visual, especially if the molding contrasts with the surrounding wall.

Niches are recesses made on the wall to enhance aesthetics on the appearance. This are mostly made on plain walls in lounges, lobbies, dining, family rooms bathrooms or bedrooms. They give a wall a different feel. A painting or a particular finish can be framed inside. Finishes can be done like stucco, resins, lighting or even mirrors. A timber or concrete ledge can also be fixed for placing flowers or clocks. Glass blocks may also be fixed.Niches can be done during the wall construction or after the wall is complete. The procedure is to start by identifying the position. Mostly surfaces opposite windows or lighting give good aesthetics. This is because the recess becomes a focal point in a room. If lighting is to be done, there will be electric points done during construction or introduced after construction. The recess can also be framed with hardwood or softwood around it.Niche construction commences by marking the point and hacking to create the recess. The recess will depend on the intended finish after completion. Mostly a recess of at least fifty millimeters is good. After the surface is created , straighten and square the edges. Use plaster to mould the back and edges. The wall thickness should also be checked. A wall less than a hundred and fifty millimeters is not suitable for a recess. The niche size should be at least not less than one square meter. After formation, introduce a frame of timber round it. The overhang should be at least twenty five millimeters. The bottom board should be a hundred millimeters in width. Use a stucco or resin finish instead of plain plaster. Paint the timber surfaces to contrast the main wall and the niche. In a lobby or bathroom or lounge add down lighters in the recess which give a spectacular lighting.

Curtains Colors and Style

The primary function of curtains is to minimize the intensity of direct sunlight the enters from the window in the indoor space. In certain geographical areas where sunlight is in plenty amount, window curtains play a major role. The curtain also a decorative element forms a major source of beauty element.

Curtains when used around the door opening have a very limited function of just defining the opening or for the identification of the entrance of the space. For achieving a clear and unobstructed entry or exit through the door the door curtains are designed with more decorative elements (such as folds) near the top edge of the door. This keeps the bottoms of the curtain easy to operate.

The curtains are primarily used for defining two spaces out of a large space. A good example is living room and dining room. A big living room can be easily separated visually a large top hung curtain with suitable color scheme. Many types these types of curtains when used in large spaces are never operated but are for decorative purposes only. Indoor Swiming Pools

Swimming pools are great for both exercise and recreation. People living in warm climates often enjoy their own pool in their backyard, but what about those of us living in colder climates? These days, there a quite a few choices for people in cold climates who wish to be year-round pool users.

If you are building a new home or addition, you can simply add the pool to the architectural plans when you are in the initial planning stages of the project. Inground indoor pools will be poured along with the foundation in most cases, unless you choose a fiberglass model. If this is the case, you can have it installed in the floor when the house is being built. Your general contractor can ensure that the design plans are carried out as shown in your pool layout specifications.

If you are intending to add a pool to an existing room, you will probably want to consider an above ground indoor pool. Your ceiling height will determine how deep your pool can be. In most cases, a basement or other room with a concrete floor is the best room for the pool, as it will need a good solid floor to support the water weight. If your floor is not strong enough, extra reinforcing can be done, and your pool supplier can advise you as to how this is best accomplished.

Another option to consider is an indoor/outdoor pool. This type of pool is built in the backyard, like any other outdoor pool, but it is then enclosed with what is called a "telescoping" pool cover. These come in an assortment of styles and price ranges. Telescoping pool covers are very much like sun rooms, but their walls and roof open completely to allow you to have an indoor pool in the winter and an outdoor pool in the summer.
